Cuppers Draw Round-Up

In News, Sports by James Campsie1 Comment

Fitzwilliam begin their Cuppers title defence with a bye, as most of the early contenders for the tournament were kept apart in the first round draw hosted tonight.

Sidney Sussex take on Downing in the only all Div 1 fixture, while perennial finalists Pembroke face a tricky trip to Trinity.

Elsewhere, both Darwin and Caius will be dreaming of a giant killing as they battle top tier opponents Queens and Selwyn respectively.

The large amount of byes in the opening games means that most teams will be feverishly plotting their potential opponents and, for some, their route to the final.

The full draw is as follows:

Churchill vs Bye

St Johns vs Emmanuel

Sidney Sussex vs Downing

Robinson vs Bye

Fitzwilliam vs Bye

Darwin vs Queens

Peterhouse vs Christs

Trinity Hall vs Bye

Magdalene vs Bye

Clare vs Bye

Homerton vs Kings

Girton vs Bye

St Catz vs Bye

Selwyn vs Caius

Trinity vs Pembroke

Corpus Christi vs Bye

    “Large amount of byes….”

Go and learn the difference between ‘number of’ and ‘amount of’. Makes me wonder how some people, with writing ambitions, ever get into a university.
