On the 25th of October the Jays played this season’s first Cup match against De Montford University 1sts. Despite the heat and humidity of the sports centre, the team got off to a great start, with Olivia Dadge and Laura Dyer working tirelessly to bring the ball down the court, and superb shooting from Yasmin Khan-osborne, Carla Hill and player of the match, Laura Curtis, meaning that we were leading at 27-12 after the first half.

After a rocky start to the third quarter we managed to settle back down and re-find our rhythm. Georgie Vale and Eleanor Ansell showcased excellent communication in the defensive circle and put constant pressure on their shooters, and Hannah White worked hard to break down their down-court attack. The final score was 45-31, another excellent win for the Jays. With the team working well together there’s lots to look forward to as the season progresses!
